today is national day.
oh i thank God for the wonderful peace and tranquility over here in the sg and that i'm blessed with financial security as well as wonderful friends of all races. we celebrate racial harmony cuz today is the day we remembered we broke down the walls of race, we tore down all kinds of segregation and we stand up and unite as one big family.
i woke up waiting for the lion city hardcore gig .. and i met zach and his brother at dhoby and we played pool first .. after which james, gabriel and ben(james bro) came along to play too. then after that the rest came .. bel,gary,ernest,mark,blabla.. oh yeh kim and wilfred was the earliest people to be there(hardcore pool fanatics.) then i played with ijtp no1 and i lost to her cuz she was so good(duh).
eh then we went to eat and waited for spencer to come.. and we left after that for the gig. at cuppage, we thought the gig was at nexus auditorium, oh and then some of the hardcore kids sitting on the floor helped inform us that no the gigs actually that way..and we walked.. it was a very small function room.. a typical size for underground acts(like those you see in small saosin videos). it was damn bloody underground. the aircon was half-dead,it was hot as shit, it was pretty tight in the room.. and the band was just like 1/4 a metre away from the audience(human barricade).
we came late.. and we watched the 2nd band.. they were alright, that guy screamed reasonably well.. but they were political and had good lyrics tho i could not hear what he's saying.. yeh and after that it was stampede.. a nu-metal/rapcore band. the guy sounded abit like pod.. they were rad. very tight as a band, great skills and improvisation and the vocalist showed alot of feel as he sung and screamed in his songs..
and then they had some mic problem that delayed the gig alot..so we left for awhile and came back.. spencer and gabriel could not stand the heat, the music as well as the smell of the room so they left and went around town checking out stuff .. while the rest stayed at the gig. there was this one man band called one man resistance. gary claimed the guy was from systemless. man he was really awesome, damn political, courageous and he shotued his lungs out playing his songs at the gig.. most of his lyrics made alot of sense even though it was very controversial and offensive in some of his songs. he sung like anti-flag. shiat. amazing.
after the gig .. we went back to monster for awhile to play pool. james met his classmate that told him his friends were going to have a fight with skinheads.. ha so we meet up with the rest at ps and we went to check out the fight. turns out it was about 60 indonesians against 7 hiphoppers(not even skins). but luckily. they let one guy fight with one guy and then james was the middleman, how cool. after he smoked finish his fag, the fight was over. and both sides were injured. then they went off.
we went to lido to watch fahrenheit 9/11 at lido after that. it was rad. i loved that show. but too bad i was alittle tired and i could not understand some parts that well either. must buy the dvd and watch again, lol. could say it was propaganda to a certain extent, but it definitely provides a different prospective and view to how BUSH works, and what kind of a person he is. i believe the propaganda of peace is better than the propaganda of war(cnn). ok, so go watch the movie for yourselves!
